Ellen C. Desmond, QC obtained her LLB from the University of New Brunswick in 1992 and her LLM from Osgoode Hall, York University in 1998. Ellen is the Director of Legal & Administration for the New Brunswick Energy and Utilities Board, an administrative tribunal, and a past Chair of the national CBA-ADR section. She is the current chair of both the Women Lawyers Forum and the Administrative Law Section of the CBA, New Brunswick branch.

Community engagement

Ellen currently serves on the Complaints Committee of the New Brunswick College of Physicians and Surgeons (2006-present). She served on the Board of Governors of St. Thomas University from 2002 to 2010.

Ellen has served on a number of non-profit organizations over the past several years including Hestia House, Divine Mercy Catholic School and the Rocmaura Nursing Home Foundation. She currently contributes each year to the Energy Fundamentals for Leaders certificate program, offered through UNB Saint John College.
