Jim graduated from Environmental Technology at Holland College in 1982. After graduation, Jim worked for various Provincial Government departments including Energy and Mines, Agriculture, and Environment. He joined UNB and the faculty in 1986 under Dr. Paul Arp’s group and has been with the university since that time.

Jim conducts a variety of analyses on trees, potatoes, soils, and fertilizers for various clients including Federal and Provincial Government departments, private companies, and for various university research projects. Some aspects of his research included fertilizer components, maximum growth and yield, frost hardiness, and plant viability. The Forest Soils & Environmental Quality lab is one of the few wet labs left in the province.

In his spare time, Jim enjoys back packing, SCUBA diving, treasure hunting and hold two black belts one in Karate and the other in Kungfu.
