Sources of funding

Student abroad bursary

Our program and external partners such as Scotiabank, Saputo, MBA alumni Daniel Arnold and the New Brunswick Government offer financial support to UNB students.

The amount of the award depends on:

  • the number of applicants
  • the length of time abroad
  • your destination

UNB Fredericton

Once you have been accepted to the program, you should apply for student abroad bursary program, available at the Financial Aid Office.

You must complete the application by the April 1 deadline and submit it to the Financial Aid Office.

UNB Saint John

You are automatically considered for a travel award once you have been accepted to the student abroad program. There is no separate application.

You will know the amount of the award a few months prior to leaving.

The award will be put on your UNB student account and will go towards paying your full-time tuition for the term(s) when you are on an exchange.

Student loans

You can apply for a student loan during your time abroad because you will still be registered as a full-time UNB student.

You may also consider submitting an application if you did not qualify for a student loan because living abroad comes with additional expenses.

UNB scholarships and bursaries

You may use your UNB scholarship or bursary towards your international experience.
