Treaty Renewal Gathering -FR and SJ

The Mi'kmaq-Wolastoqey Centre at the University of New Brunswick and the Wabanaki Student Centre at St. Thomas University are pleased to be hosting a Treaty Renewal Gathering from April 25-27, 2022.
Spring is a time for renewal and rebirth. It has been two years since the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a pandemic, and a time for healing is needed. In this spirit, we invite you to gather with us during the final week of April for a series of presentations and events focussed on Indigenous values, ceremonies, and teachings that have promoted healing and strengthened and sustained communities since time immemorial.
All events are free, open to the public, and will take place in Marshall d’Avray Hall, Room 143. Everyone is welcome!
Monday, April 25
- 1 p.m.: Gathering opening with Wolastoq Grand Chief Ron Tremblay
- 1:30-5 p.m.: 8 Point Star Medicine Wheel Teachings with Elders Jeannie Bartibogue and Miigam’agan
Tuesday, April 26
- 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.: Continuation of the Medicine Wheel Teachings: 7 Stages of Life with Elders Jeannie Bartibogue and Miigam’agan
Lunch will be provided
Wednesday, April 27
- 6 p.m.: Reciprocity Project Screening (7 Indigenous-made Short Documentaries)
- 7:30 p.m.: A discussion with Passamaquoddy citizen Christopher Newell, co-director of Weckuwapok (The Approaching Dawn)
