Event Details:

Speaker:  Tim Blackmore, UNB
Topic: "Analyzing Loop Quantum Cosmology of Bianchi Models with Numerical Methods"

"General relativity and quantum mechanics are incompatible at large mass densities which are found in black holes and at the beginning of the universe. Loop quantum gravity (LQG) is pathway to quantize general relativity (GR) in a way that is consistent with quantum mechanics. In previous literature LQG effects have been applied to Bianchi spacetimes analytically and transition rules were derived which relate the rates of expansion and contraction in these spacetimes. For this research we will numerically solve the equations of motion corresponding to these spacetimes and test these transition rules."

NOTE: Seminar event starts at 1 p.m. to allow the speaker time to set up and time for attendees to have an open chat until the seminar start time of 1:15 p.m.
