Working with NB-IRDT: Data access, research collaboration and training opportunities

From its launch as a UNB Institute in 2015, the New Brunswick Institute for Research, Data and Training has become one of the largest institutes at the university. NB-IRDT anchors the NB Maritime SPOR SUPPORT Unit and undertakes multi-year programs of research with multiple provincial government departments including Health, Social Development, Education and Early Childhood Development, and Postsecondary Education, Training and Labour. At its heart, the Institute is a data custodian and repository for administrative data on NB residents. With around 65 unique datasets received through data sharing agreements with government departments, regional health authorities, and other public bodies, NB-IRDT provides researchers with access to person-level linked longitudinal datafiles to support research and program evaluation. Data files include hospital and physician billing data, a wide range of pre-school and school assessments and outcomes, clinical data, income support data among many others.

This presentation will provide an overview of NB-IRDT, its activities, data holdings and lines of business including training opportunities. It will also highlight collaboration possibilities, including the procedure for accessing NB-IRDT’s rich data holdings.
