2018 Faculty of Business Undergraduate Case Competition - Warm Up Event-SJ

Event Details:

BBA and BAM students are invited to the Case Competition warm-up event to learn more about the competition.  Free pizza and door prizes!

Register at the Faculty of Business Departmental Office (2nd floor Oland Hall) any time between now and the deadline on December 15, 2017. (Cash only) Receive a free (and stylish) competition T-shirt when you register.  

Get a team together or register as an individual for a chance at the big prize money and have some fun too! Each team will be assigned a Business Mentor; no experience necessary.

At the event in January, teams will receive a written business case on Friday morning with a problem to solve. They will have until Saturday afternoon to prepare their plan of action. They will then make their presentations to a panel of expert judges who will determine which team has done the best job of analyzing the case and proposing a solution. All participants are invited to a banquet Saturday night where the winners will be announced.

What is it?
Teams will receive a written business case on Friday morning, Jan 19 and must solve a business problem(s) by analyzing the information in the case, developing a feasible set of alternatives and recommending a course of action. On Saturday afternoon, all teams will make a presentation to a set of judges who will determine which team has done the best job of analyzing the case and proposing the best solution. On Saturday evening, all participants are invited to a celebratory banquet where the winners will be announced!

Prizes
Prizes for top three teams: $1,250 for first; $750 for second and $500 for third place

Schmooze
Kick-off Opening Reception on Thursday, Jan. 18, from 4 – 6 p.m., hosted by members of the local business community.

Awards Banquet: free for participants on Saturday, Jan. 20 at end of Competition. This will provide participants with a chance to talk business with members of the local business community and Faculty of Business professors.

Who is eligible?
Third and fourth year UNB Saint John students registered in BBA, BAM and Economics majors. Students may register as teams, partial teams or individuals. No prior experience necessary! Each team will be assigned a business mentor.

Registration
Entry fee (per person): Early bird $40 in Oct, and $50 in Nov. Participants get a free t-shirt and will get $50 refunded if they complete the case competition.
You can register a team of four to five people, or register as an individual and we’ll make up the teams. It all works!
