The UNB Faculty of Education is proud to present Dr. Robert Kelly as part of its Faculty of Education Colloquium Series.
Dr. Robert Kelly presentation is titled “Creative Development: Transforming Education through Design Thinking, Innovation and Invention.”
This event is the launch of the Year of Creativity.
Operationalizing creative practice in education has become an educational imperative in 21st Century learning. Creative development, the continual growth of creative capacity of educator and learner, is viewed as central to educational practice and as important to the fabric of education as more traditional developmental strands such as literacy and numeracy. University of Calgary’s Robert Kelly will share his thoughts on a theoretical framework for creative development alongside a practical exploration of how to operationalize creativity in educational practice from his newest research and book Creative Development: Transforming Education through Design Thinking, Innovation and Invention (in press). Join in this conversation as he shares his experiences as designer and academic coordinator of the Creative Development in Educational Practice and Design Thinking for Innovation graduate programs in the Werklund School of Education at the University of Calgary that focus on systematically growing the creative capacity of both educator and learner towards establishing an educational culture of creativity. Bring your ideas, questions and a sense of humor to this energetic journey into teaching and learning creatively and more importantly learning to create by engaging in original research and original production.
Dr. Robert Kelly is an associate professor at the University of Calgary where he is academic coordinator of the Creative Development in Educational Practice and Design Thinking for Innovation graduate programs in the Werklund School of Education. Robert has previously edited Educating for Creativity: A Global Conversation (2012) a survey of global creative practice in education, and Creative Expression, Creative Education: Creativity as a Primary Rationale for Education (2008).
