COVID-19 community update

May 6, 2021

The UNB Fredericton community has faced many challenges over the past two weeks but by working together, we have supported the needs of students, staff and faculty directly impacted by COVID on our campus.

New Brunswick Public Heath announced that the isolation for residents and staff of Elizabeth Parr-Johnston (EPJ) ended last night at 11:59 p.m. with access to this building permitted to begin today.

I take this opportunity to thank residents and staff of EPJ for their sacrifice and commitment to keep our community safe. It is imperative we continue to follow all New Brunswick Public Health and safety measures on campus.

  • If you have had contact with a confirmed case or have been asked to self-isolate, you are not permitted on campus.
  • You must wear a face mask, maintain physical distancing, follow directional signage and sanitize your hands upon entering and exiting buildings.
  • You are required to complete location tracking by using the QR codes placed at the entrance of each building or sign in via the hard-copy log sheet.

Additional testing took place yesterday at Magee House. For residents and staff of Magee House who test negative throughout this process, their isolation period could end Saturday, May 8, at 11:59 p.m.

I appreciate the patience and understanding of the UNB community as we continue to monitor the situation and follow the advice of New Brunswick Public Health.

We will continue to address concerns as they arise and provide the latest information on COVID-19 developments through UNB communication channels including email, social media and unb.ca/coronavirus.

With kind regards,

Paul J. Mazerolle
President and Vice-Chancellor
