COVID-19 Update

March 9, 2020

Our top priority is the safety and well-being of the UNB community. As March Break ends and students return to classes, UNB’s COVID-19 Response Team would like to provide a few important reminders how we can prevent and limit the potential spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) across our campuses.

All members of the UNB community have a responsibility and a role to play in maintaining a healthy community by taking simple actions including frequent hand washing, staying home when sick and covering your cough and sneezes.

The UNB COVID-19 Response Team is asking ALL travellers returning to New Brunswick from outside Canada to monitor your health for 14 days. If you have travelled outside of the country, it is important to monitor your health closely for symptoms such as fever, cough or difficulty breathing. If you experience any symptoms, please follow these steps:

  • isolate yourself as quickly as possible and limit your contact with others
  • immediately call 8-1-1 or your health-care provider
  • describe your symptoms and recent travel history
  • carefully follow instructions from healthcare professionals

UNB takes its direction from federal, provincial and local health authorities. If you have travelled to China, Iran or Italy, you must self-isolate, limit your contact with others for 14 days and call 8-1-1 within 24-hours of arriving in Canada.

The UNB COVID-19 Response Team is working with units across our campuses in preparation for a variety of scenarios. We continue to work closely with NB Public Health and their staff dedicated to identifying and responding to potential risks of COVID-19. NB Public Health actively monitors new developments to assess and improve the provincial comprehensive pandemic response system as the situation evolves.

Please obtain COVID-19 information from trusted sources and from the information provided here.
