COVID-19 Update

Mar. 5, 2020

With heightened awareness surrounding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), we are committed to keeping our community informed. The University of New Brunswick (UNB) takes any threat of communicable disease very seriously. We continue to work closely with New Brunswick’s Office of the Chief Medical Health (Public Health) for updates on the potential health risk to UNB and our community.

Although the World Health Organization has declared COVID-19 a public health emergency, the current overall risk to New Brunswick remains low. There are currently no confirmed cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in New Brunswick. The Public Health Agency of Canada continues to assess the public health risk associated with COVID-19 as low in Canada.

The safety and well-being of all members of the UNB community remains our highest priority.  The University has not been advised to take any additional precautions at this time, nor have we been notified that any member of our community is at risk. We will rely on the expertise of our provincial public health authorities when potential risks may occur.

We will continue to provide the latest information about COVID-19 on this website, Further updates will be shared with the UNB community through our regular communication channels. We encourage our community to support one another with empathy and compassion during this time of uncertainty.
