COVID-19 community update

July 26, 2021

New Brunswick will move to the Green health alert level at 11:59 p.m. on July 30, 2021. Fall 2021 will resemble a traditional UNB experience with in-person classes, activities and events taking place on our campuses.

Although some health and safety protocols will remain, physical distancing will no longer be required in classrooms when New Brunswick moves to Green. This will allow us to increase the number of students for in-person instruction at a given time.

Over the next few weeks, we will work with faculty to explore opportunities to increase in-person course offerings. Any changes to course delivery methods will be updated in the course timetable by Wednesday, Aug. 11.

  • In-person: Courses that are offered in-person will remain as is. The removal of capacity limits will allow us to eliminate waitlists for most courses.
  • Alternative delivery method (ADM): There will be no changes to courses that are offered remotely through ADM.
  • Combination: Courses offered using a combination of both in-person instruction and alternative delivery methods may move to in-person instruction only.

Students are expected to be on campus in September to attend in-person course components. We will continue to provide flexibility and access to course material and lectures for students unable to attend in-person if there is a documented concern such as travel delays and restrictions. Contact covidhelp@unb.ca immediately for assistance.

More information on UNB’s transition to Green will be shared once guidance from New Brunswick Public Health is finalized. We will continue to provide the latest UNB updates on our transition to Green through email, myUNB News, social media channels and unb.ca/coronavirus.
