COVID-19 community update

Jan. 6, 2021

New Brunswick Public Health continues to manage and assess COVID-19 risks while protecting the wellbeing of the community and province. As of midnight Jan. 5, 2021, all Zones within New Brunswick will move to the Orange health alert level.

NB Orange health alert level

  • Under the Orange level, face masks must be worn at all times in public spaces, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Social contacts are restricted to a one-household bubble.
  • Only essential travel is recommended both within and outside of the province. However, people can continue to travel for work, school, essential errands and medical appointments.
  • Learn more about travelling in and out of higher risk areas.
  • Post-secondary educational institutions may operate.

UNB campuses are open. Classes will begin on Jan. 11 through alternative delivery methods. It has been determined that we can safely resume in-person course delivery on Jan. 18 as originally planned while ensuring strict adherence to the New Brunswick Public Health guidelines. This includes wearing masks in all public spaces and continuously maintaining a 2-metre physical distance and limiting our social contact with others.

Get tested

If you or a member of your family are showing any symptoms of COVID-19, you can register to get tested or you can call Tele-Care 811 to make an appointment. If you have an out-of-province phone provider, call 1-877-795-3773.

COVID Alert App

COVID Alert is a secure, reliable and user-friendly app that is an additional tool to help limit the spread of COVID-19. Along with physical distancing, wearing a mask and other important steps, knowing what to do if you have been exposed to COVID-19 is another way to protect yourself.

The more people who use the app, the more effective it will be in helping to protect each other and our communities. Learn more about the COVID Alert app.

We will continue to address your concerns and provide the latest information on COVID-19 developments through UNB communication channels including email, social media and unb.ca/coronavirus.
