For many in our community, these past 24-48 hours have been filled with uncertainty and anxiety. Now more than ever, our community must come together to support one another, treat each other with kindness and encourage each other to remain vigilant.
Following recently confirmed cases of COVID-19, New Brunswick Public Health has officially declared an outbreak at Magee House. As of yesterday, there are six confirmed cases at UNB Fredericton related to this outbreak.

This situation remains fluid and is continuously changing. We have been in constant communication with New Brunswick Public Health, sometimes on an hourly basis. As more contact tracing and testing is completed, plans and actions may need to be revised to minimize the risk of spread.
We are committed to complete transparency. While our top priority is the health and safety of the UNB community, we are focusing on the needs of students, staff and faculty directly impacted by COVID on our Fredericton campus.
As developments arise, we are providing specific information to students, faculty and staff directly affected by COVID-19 and providing community updates as directed by Public Health.
We understand the presence of COVID-19 variants is a significant concern. I would like to reassure everyone that UNB takes the threat of COVID-19 very seriously. Every policy and every guideline we implement must adhere to New Brunswick Public Health requirements and the provincial State of Emergency Mandatory Order.
If you have any questions, concerns or needs resulting from the recent developments, please reach out to us at president@unb.ca.
Together, we will get through this safely. Together, we are stronger. Together, we are one UNB.
