Call for Papers

The Faculty of Education and the Mi’kmaq-Wolastoqey Centre at the University of New Brunswick are proud to host this unique conference bringing together teacher educators working in Indigenous contexts to share ideas, experiences and innovations regarding teacher education programs.

A welcoming powwow followed by two days of panels and presentations highlight the theme of moving towards reconciliation in teacher education. Paper and poster submissions will be considered under the complimentary areas of implementing the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) recommendations in:
• Teacher education and transformative pedagogies;
• Indigenous language and culture resurgence;
• Land-based education and Indigenous ways of knowing;
• Self-governance and treaty education.

We are seeking the submission of abstracts of papers, posters and proposals for panels to address topics related to “Reconciliation in Teacher Education” or to implementing TRC recommendations pertaining to teacher education. Graduate students are particularly encouraged to submit abstracts for a poster presentation.

Abstracts should be approximately 250 words and should be sent by email to Andrea Belczewski at by January 15, 2016.
