Entrance requirements

There are a number of programs at UNB specifically designed for students who have completed a college diploma (some with specific agreements, but many are open).

Partnering Institution

  • New Brunswick College of Craft and Design (completion of two years of study).

The BAA degree consists of 120 credit hours of courses, half (60 credit hours / two years) of which are taken at UNB and half (60 credit hours / two years) taken at NBCCD. The years at UNB or NBCCD can be completed in any order.

Students may apply to the BAA program as new students before taking courses at either institution, or they may apply to the BAA program after taking courses or other programs from either institution and apply to transfer the courses they already have taken for credit in the BAA program.

NBCC MLT Diploma Program graduates may be eligible for admission into the BMLS program to complete just 84 credit hours to obtain their degree, provided they also meet the high school requirements for the Faculty of Science. Limited space available.

Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences


The University of New Brunswick offers an LPN Bridge Program (Saint John campus) and an LPN Pathway (Fredericton campus). Both programs recognize the prior learning of Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) graduates from NB based LPN programs. Both programs allow students to transition into year three of a Bachelor of Nursing (BN) Degree Program at UNB.

Please note - students accepted to the LPN Bridge are connected to the Saint John campus. Students accepted to the LPN Pathway are connected to the Fredericton campus. Transfers between campuses and programs are not available at any time.

Applicants must have completed an approved LPN college program with a valid license practicing in the province of New Brunswick. Applicants must also show successful completion of required high school level math (Foundation of Math 12, Precalculus 11 or equivalent).

LPN Bridge Program (SJ)    LPN to BN Nursing Pathway


Students must have successfully completed a two-year diploma from a recognized college, with an average of 70% and no grade below 65% in specific courses identified by the Faculty of Business at UNB Saint John. Eligible students may receive up to 60 credit hours of transfer.

Bachelor of Applied Management


Students must have successfully completed a two-year diploma from a recognized college, with an Accounting Option. An average of 70% and no grade below 65% in specific courses that are identified by the Faculty of Business at UNB Saint John. Eligible students may receive up to 60 credit hours of transfer.

Bachelor of Applied Management, Accounting


Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada who have completed a two-year diploma in early childhood education from a provincially recognized college, are eligible to apply for this program.

Bachelor of Education


Business

  • Any two-year diploma or three-year diploma.

Eligible students receive a transfer credit block of 60chs (equivalent to two years of study).

Graduates of the IT diploma program with an overall average of 70% or higher are eligible for up to 61 credit hours of transfer into the BCS program (for courses with grades of 60% or higher).

Forest Technician (FT)

Graduates of the FRT diploma program with an overall average of 70% or higher are eligible for up to 56 credit hours of transfer into the BSF program (for courses with grades of 60% or higher).


Environmental Engineering Technology (Co-op) (EET)

  • Two-year diploma
  • UNB program: FR - Bachelor of Science in Forestry and Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management
  • Dates effective: December 2021 - December 2026

Graduates of the EET diploma program with an overall average of 70% or higher are eligible for up to 68 credit hours of transfer into the BSF or BSCEM program (for courses with grades of 60% or higher).

Fish and Wildlife Technician (FWT)

  • Two-year diploma
  • UNB program: FR - Bachelor of Science in Forestry and Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management
  • Dates effective: December 2021 - December 2026

Graduates of the FWT diploma program with an overall average of 70% or higher are eligible for up to 57 credit hours of transfer into the BSF or BSCEM program (for courses with grades of 60% or higher).

Forest Resources Technician (FRT)

  • Ontario college diploma

Graduates of the FWT diploma program with an overall average of 70% or higher are eligible for up to 66 credit hours of transfer into the BSF or BSCEM program (for courses with grades of 60% or higher).

Graduates of the ACTM-RMT with an overall average of 70% or higher are eligible for up to 66 credit hours of transfer into the BSKIN program (for courses with grades of 60% or higher).

  • Two-year diploma

  • Dates effective: April 2023 - April 2028

Graduate of the KIN diploma program with an overall average of 70% or higher are eligible or up to 65 credit hours of transfer in to the BSKIN program (for courses with grade of 60% or higher).

Sport and Recreation Management (SRM)

  • Two-year diploma
  • UNB program: FR - Bachelor of Recreation and Sports Studies

Graduate of the SRM diploma program with an overall average of 70% or higher are eligible or up to 60 credit hours of transfer in to the BSKIN program (for courses with grade of 60% or higher).
