Novel Writing - Next Steps

Flex your writing muscles with this intensive one-day workshop designed to equip, elevate and expand your toolbox as a writer.

You’ve got the plot. You’ve got the characters. But how do we bring it all together in a compelling way that engages and immerses our readers? We start by examining these five simple, but powerful steps:

  1. Active Voice – because nobody likes passive-anything.
  2. Deep Point of View – where we write as the character, not about them.
  3. Setting as Character – learn how to reveal character through setting, and create emotional impact.
  4. Story Structure – desire, dilemma, transformation, and all points in between, where the stakes are always life and death.
  5. Worldbuilding – creating unique and believable settings for the characters who inhabit them.

Lastly, we’ll put these concepts into practice, writing a scene or scene-fragment and sharing it with the group.
