Develop heart-centered consciousness

"Yoga" means "to merge" and kundalini yoga in particular is formulated to work with the 21st-century mind to help it settle into a calmer state so that it can merge with higher consciousness, listen, and sense the messages of the soul. Kundalini yoga contains components from many other types of yoga and many lifestyle tips.

Kundalini yoga is very forgivable—you don’t have to practice it exactly or hold the postures perfectly—you just need to think in terms of leaning in the right direction and doing the best you can while going at our own pace. It helps us to let go of any judgment we may have about our bodies. In kundalini yoga, loving and accepting our bodies is more important than doing the exercise perfectly. It's not about maximizing the flexibility of the body but to bring consciousness and groundedness to all parts of the body. If we are unable to do an exercise, we can visualize ourselves in the posture. Visualization has proven itself to be very effective.

In this course, you will learn how all the chakras come together energetically to form a 6-sided star at the heart and explore powerful breathing techniques that can bring us out of anxiety quickly.

You will be centering your meditations with "heart breath", an easy breath exercise that fully engages the mind to participate in the vibrations of heart-centered consciousness. Meditations (including silent, mantric, and pranic) help channel your energy into higher states of consciousness where love, knowledge, and truth vibrate.

This course also includes stretches and holding postures taught in kriyas or sets, which rejuvenate the organs to get the pranic energy moving through the chakras. Deep relaxation is also a focus in each class (mantras and deep relaxation music will play on your computer during class).

No experience necessary. Returning yoga participants are also welcome.

About the instructor

Parmatma Leviton is a KRI-Certified (Kundalini Research Institute) Kundalini Yoga Teacher Trainer who has co-facilitated Teacher Training programs in Ottawa for over 10 years and has been teaching Kundalini Yoga for 25 years. She co-facilitated Teacher Training programs at Rama Lotus, Ottawa, and Equilibrium K.Y. Centre in Montreal. She is an artist and was also a Shiatsu Therapist from 1996-2006. Her training in acupuncture, Cranio-sacral, Touch for Health Kinesiology, Aromatherapy, Waveform Energetics in Scotland, Reiki, and Sat Nam Rasayan has enhanced her understanding of the mind-body connections found in the science of yoga. Her main focus has been Kundalini Yoga since 1996.

She has recently graduated from a three year study of Soul Answer Healing, which works as a healing modality with trauma and releasing emotional programming and is derived from Kundalini Yoga.
