About the instructor

Tina Sharapova was born in Moscow, Russia. She grew up in a big family, where everybody did something creative — embroidery, wood craving, knitting or sewing. Tina has experience with a variety of handicrafts. Her formal art training took place at the Moscow College of Arts and Crafts, with majors in carpet and tapestry making. After graduating, she worked for several years as a designer in a carpet company, then she took part in organizing a small tapestry studio, making unique designs for handmade tapestries.

Then in 2006, she moved to China with her family and after a period of searching for a new vision, she tried doll-making, paper clay, patchwork, and finally felt-making, which had similarities to her work with carpets for its soft texture and many usages. She also ran classes for children and adults. In 2016, she moved to Fredericton to continue her education at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design and to work on a diploma in Textile Design. She is a member of New Brunswick Crafts Council.
