Cross Stitch for Beginners

Come and learn how to cross stitch by following a chart and stitching the pattern onto a piece of fabric. Once your project is complete, learn how to finish it for presentation. We will also stitch on paper and use beads to enhance the project. Cross stitch is a relaxing and enjoyable hobby that can become addictive!

Course outline:

  • Week 1: Intro to cross stitch & start of project
  • Week 2: Prepare project for presentation (Lace or Sew)
  • Week 3: Add beads and finish by using the Cube method


  • Scissors
  • 15 cm (6-inch) embroidery hoop ( plastic or wooden)
  • Reading or magnifying glasses, if needed

Instructor: Karoline Barr

About the instructor

Karoline Barr was born and raised in Fredericton. She is a UNB (BA) and STU (BEd) Alumna. Karoline grew up in a creative family and has been Cross Stitching for over 30 years.

She attends Cross Stitching retreats twice a year and has entered many of her needlework projects in NB provincial competition, and received several ribbons for her work.

Karoline also enjoys crocheting and knitting.
