Memorial lecture features young language carriers

University Highlights | This year’s Gwen Bear Memorial Lecture featured four young language carriers from Kingsclear First Nation who shared their experiences of authoring and illustrating Weyossisok, a storybook written in the Wolastoqey language. Read more

First UNB goalie mask finds its way back to campus

Alumni Story | In 1967, Varsity Red goalie Frank Morrison (BPE’71, MEd’98) set out to create a goalie mask after being injured during a game. The first mask ever worn by a Varsity Reds player has been donated to UNB nearly 50 years later. Read more

Tony Proudfoot nominated for Hall of Fame

Alumni Story | UNB alumnus, former CFL all-star, author, coach and ‘Canadian hero’, Tony Proudfoot (BPE’71, DSc’08), has been posthumously nominated for the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame. Read more

Alumni lending support to future entrepreneurs

Impact of Giving | MTME student Scott Shreenan (BScEng'14) wants to harness the tidal power of the Bay of Fundy to generate electricity. He’s getting help from three UNB alumni: tech entrepreneur Marcel LeBrun (BScEng’92), entrepreneur and former TME student Mauricio Hernandez (BScEng’04, PhD’12), and structural engineer Peter Lee (BScEng’87, MScEng’92, PhD’01). Emera NB donates to UNB Saint John bursary program

Impact of Giving | On Feb. 12, representatives from Emera New Brunswick and UNB met with students and teachers from Hazen White-St. Francis School in Saint John to celebrate Emera’s gift of $150,000 to the Emera New Brunswick Promise Partnership Bursary. The bursary is open to graduates of the school who have participated in UNB Saint John’s Promise Partnership program and who enrol at UNB. Read more
