Jennifer Ward

Role with Associated Alumnae: First Vice President

Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

I graduated UNB in 2008, and that fall started my post-graduate studies pursing my chartered accountant designation at ASCA (The Atlantic School of Chartered Accountancy).  I have volunteered at many organizations throughout my life starting first when I was in Girl Guides at many community events, and then later in my career at the Fredericton Homeless Shelters, the Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival, UNB Alumnae, and most recently I am about to start a term with the Fredericton Therapeutic Riding Association.

What/who compelled you to join the Alumnae Council?

I wanted to maintain ties to the University and give back to the students.

Do you have any advice/recommendations to students and young alumni?

Take advantage of the many events and programs UNB puts on – get comfortable at networking, etc.

Why do you feel that an organization such as the Associated Alumnae is important to the fabric of UNB?

We can pool our experience and drive to help make an impact. Women face unique challenges and having a group that aims to support them is so important.

What is one thing you would personally like to work toward changing/improving at UNB?

I would like to be involved in obtaining more assistance with graduating students, putting them in touch with Alumnae in their field, expanding the mentor relationships that are possible.
