By participating in the Contest, each Registrant and/or Contestant agrees to these Official Rules and Regulations, including eligibility requirements and restrictions.

The Contest is open to all New Brunswick grade 11 and 12 high school students only.

Each potential Contestant must fill out an official entry ballot received from the UNB booth on Friday, February 23, 2018, in order to be entered for a chance to become an official Contestant in the University of New Brunswick “Shoot to Win” Half-Court Shot Contest.

On Friday, February 23, 2018, one (1) Contestant will be randomly selected from a bin containing the names of registrants who enter their names into the drawing upon physically entering Harbour Station on February 23, 2018. The random draw will take place at the end of the first quarter during the scheduled Friday, February 23, 8:30 PM basketball game. The registrant must be in attendance for their chance to win and will have 10 minutes to claim their prize. The randomly selected Contestant CANNOT choose another person to participate on his/her behalf.

The Contestant shall not be permitted any practice, warm-up, or qualifying shots, at any time after his/her notification of participation in the Contest until the actual prize shot. No part of the Contestant's body or clothing may come in contact with the demarcation line prior to releasing the ball. Any such contact will be considered a foul and the shot shall have been deemed missed.

The Contestant must successfully shoot a regulation basketball (circumference of 29.5”) through a regulation size basketball hoop from behind the half court line. The Contestant(s) may only have one (1) throw and must make their first attempt in order to be reimbursed for the prize. This process must be supervised at all times by an official referee representing the NBIAA Final 12 basketball tournament.

If a successful Contestant is found to be in violation of any of the Rules and Regulations contained herein, the Contestant will forfeit his/her prize.

The Contestant shot attempt, the Contestant’s body position in relationship to the half-court line, the flight of the ball, and the basketball passing through the hoop will all be recorded on video for prize verification purposes.

The Contestant must agree to allow the coordinators to photograph, audio record, video record, podcast, or webcast of the above noted student (digitally or otherwise) for UNB promotional purposes and also agree to allow UNB to copy modify, and distribute in print and online, those images without having to seek further approval.

One (1) prize will be awarded to one (1) Contestant who successfully completes a Half-Court Shot in accordance with the Rules and Regulations contained herein. Upon successful completion of the half-court shot, the winning Contestant will be awarded a credit to be applied to the student’s first-year (2018-19 academic year if in grade 12, 2019-2020 academic year if in grade 11), second year (2019-2020 academic year if in grade 12, 2020-2021 academic year if in grade 11), third year (2020-2021 academic year if in grade 12, 2021-2022 academic year if in grade 11), and fourth year (2021-2022 academic year if in grade 12, 2022-2023 academic year if in grade 11) tuition and other compulsory fees including Residence fees at UNB Fredericton or Saint John campus of $30,000.
