Readings include selections in translation from timeless mythologies epics such as Homer's Odyssey and the first major prose work in the Western world, Herodotus' Histories. Lectures are supplemented with images of the achievements of the Greek Classical Age, such as Parathenon on the Athenian Acropolis and the Apollo from the temple of Zeus at Olympia.
