In York, Victoria, Carleton and Sunbury counties, Hospital Auxiliaries have been part of the health care environment for more than 110 years. Helen Gibson was a long-time volunteer and valued member of the hospital auxiliary. Volunteers in the he DECH Auxiliary make significant contributions to the delivery of patient care through their small business ventures which provide funding for enhancements to healthcare services. Enhancement of health care services is not simply about providing more technology but also in supporting those nurses who are undertaking advanced education. In honouring Helen Gibson's memory, the DECH Auxiliary explicitly recognizes the importance of the role of advance practice nurses for the well-being of patients.
Eligibility:
-Full-time MN.ANP student who have graduated from the UNB baccalaureate program.
-Preference will be given to students residing in York, Victoria, Carleton or Sunbury County.
Apply: Applications for this award are submitted to the MN program by June 1st each year. The application is to include a description of the applicants' perception about the role that volunteers play in enriching the care provided in hospital. The description made based on the level of scholarship evident in the application.
