The University of New Brunswick Fredericton welcomes applications for the position of Electronic Technologist with the department of Electrical & Computer Engineering. This is a continuing full-time (36.25 hours per week) position with the PTSU employee group. The position is funded by the University Budget with a salary range of $39,853 - $49,820.
This position is responsible for the installation, repair and upkeep of a wide variety of equipment/software in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering particularly in the undergraduate teaching laboratories.
Position summary:
- Responsible for the labs including setting up experiments, repairing equipment, maintaining a proper inventory, and being aware of the location of equipment under one's jurisdiction.
- Install and maintain computers/servers and their associated software, networks, cabling, and electronic devices.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of ECE labs/spaces.
- Troubleshoot electronic equipment of a general nature.
- Assist engineers in the department to design complex electronic circuits for labs or research purposes.
- Fabricate and assemble well documented electronic circuits within little or no supervision.
- Advise in the proper selection of electronic instrumentation, components and equipment.
- Prepare cost estimates for equipment and maintain and order inventory of components for general and specific lab applications.
- Maintain and repair specialized complex electronic equipment and systems with appropriate specialized training provided by the employer.
Requirements/Skills:
- Graduation from NBCC Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology program or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in the repair and construction of sophisticated electronic equipment.
