The University of New Brunswick welcomes applications for the position of Development & Donor Relations Writer with Development & Donor Relations. This is a 3-year term full-time (36.25 hours per week) position with the APT employee group. The position is funded by the University Budget with a salary range of $49,491 - $64,337 per annum.
The Office of Development & Donor Relations is a unit within the Advancement Office, responsible for the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of private donations made to UNB. The available position will be located on the UNB Fredericton campus or the UNB Saint John campus.
Position summary:
- Write persuasive and compelling fundraising proposals for individuals, corporations and foundations, including a period of research and information gathering, along with preparation of the proposals in a visually attractive format.
- Prepare letters of intent, covering letters and related documents supporting the proposal submission process.
- Prepare detailed stewardship reports for major donors including a complete update on the UNB initiative supported and the impact of the contribution.
- Conduct interviews and prepare profiles of students and faculty researchers who have benefited from donations to UNB for publication in print and online.
- Other writing tasks as requested by the Manager, DDR Marketing & Communications which may include, but are not limited to, trust fund reports, scripts for fundraising-related events, letters of thanks, congratulations and condolence, letters of support for various nominations, fundraising-related news releases and web content.

Requirements/Skills:
- An undergraduate degree (a graduate degree would be an asset) supplemented by 3-5 years' experience in communications, fundraising, alumni affairs, or in the post-secondary education or not-for-profit sectors.
- Demonstrated success in persuasive and compelling writing with attention to detail and accuracy priorities.
- Exceptional research skills, with attention to accuracy a priority, along with a demonstrated knowledge of a broad range of research techniques.
- Team player with the ability to work independently with initiative in a demanding environment with constantly changing deadlines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
- Ability to work non-traditional hours; at times, attend events and meetings in the evening and weekends
- Ability to travel occasionally between UNB campuses
- Knowledge of fundraising, proposal writing and UNB would be a definite asset.
