There are significant differences between the transport that serves rural, long-haul, urban and short haul people movements. In large urban areas large volumes of people movements require high capacities that can only be achieved by fixed route trains. All cities above about 30000 populations require some form of TRANSIT. Even small rural communities usually have some form of TAXI service. Very large urbanized areas have MASS TRANSIT
