(a) Terms of Reference

The Committee will:
-
Advise Senate on matters of general policy with respect to student life and support services on campus;
-
As requested by Senate, advise and liaise with University departments and offices and student organizations on any matters concerning students and their needs on campus;

Seek advice on any issue concerning the welfare of students from faculty councils, students and student government, faculty, staff and administrators;

Make recommendations to Senate relating to services available to all students at the university (e.g. health, counselling, orientation);

Meet together with the Fredericton Senate Student Services Committee at least once annually ;

Report to Senate at least once each academic year on the committee’s activities.

Appointed:
1 representative of Student Life and Support Services, elected by and from the professional staff of Student Life and Support Services
1 representative from the Librarians, elected by and from the Librarians
3 Faculty representatives, one from each Faculty, as recommended by the Senate Nominating Committee, at least one (1) of whom shall be a Senator
4 Students, one (1) of whom shall be a full-time student recommended by the Student Representative Council to the Senate Nominating Committee, one (1) of whom shall be a part-time student recommended by the Student Representative Council to the Senate Nominating Committee, one (1) of whom shall be a graduate student recommended by the Saint John campus Graduate Students Association to the Senate Nominating Committee, and one (1) of whom shall be a student from residence recommended by the Student Representative Council to the Senate Nominating Committee. Plus four (4) alternate student members.
(c) Chair
The Chair, who shall be a Senator who is also a faculty member, is to be elected annually from and by the members of the Committee.
