Eligibility
The Student Abroad Program is an option to all UNB Saint John students.
Our partners include universities with program offerings that matches those at UNB Saint John, making it possible for all students to find courses that will count towards their degrees.
Eligibility criteria
In order to qualify for exchanges, travel study program, field trips, or the Washington Center, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be attending UNB Saint John as a full-time undergraduate student
- Possess – and maintain - a cumulative G.P.A. of 2.5
- Have successfully completed 60 credit hours before departure. This means that students in their 2nd year can apply.
Application form
If you wish to submit an application, and want to study abroad in fall 2013 or winter 2014, you must submit an application by the March 15 deadline. Students who apply by this deadline will be considered for a travel award.
On the application form, you will be asked to indicate three possible destinations, in order of preference, and a tentative list of courses that you wish to take at the host institution. You will need to do a bit of research to find the destination that fits you the best. If you run into any problems, drop by to see Ase Berg, International Program Advisor in Oland Hall room G14 for assistance to determine what destination would suit you and your degree best.
When applying, please submit the following:
- A signed application form
- Your un-official transcripts printed from e-Services
- Your resume
- An essay
Essay Guidelines (approx. 1000 words typed). In the essay, please address the following points:
- How did you hear about the Student Abroad Program?
- Personal and academic reasons for applying for the exchange
- Extracurricular activities
- The desired outcome of the experience (contribution to academic, personal, and professional development)
