Exchange Opportunities
The exchange program lets you study at one of UNB Saint John's partner institutions abroad for one or two terms. We have partners worldwide, and there are options for students of all degrees to do an exchange. You can see the complete list of destinations and do research to find out the best place for you to go.
Courses offered in English
The majority of our partner institutions offer a number of courses in English, so you don't need to worry about knowing another language before going abroad. Some of our partners provide free introductory courses to help you become familiar with the host country's national language.
Credit Transfer
The university courses that you take at the host institution will count towards your UNB degree and are covered through your UNB tuition. Many of the courses are different from those offered at UNB Saint John, so this is an opportunity for you to take courses that reflect your academic interest.
Planning your Term Abroad
The program coordinator will help you plan all aspects of your time overseas through pre-departure sessions to make sure that you are well-prepared for your time overseas. You will have access to assistance to help you apply to your host destination, study permit, and housing and you will have many opportunities to talk to past students, who will give you good advice and support.
Financial Assistance
Studying abroad on exchange will cost a bit more than staying in Saint John. The Student Abroad Program is able to help you make your time abroad as affordable as possible through financial support.
Application
There are usually 2 application deadlines each year. The first deadline is towards the end of November, and students who apply by this deadline are given priority in terms of location. The 2nd deadline, usually in March, will consider applicants for the remaining spaces at our partners.
Please note that the application form will be available towards the end of September. The application deadline is November 26 2012 to study abroad in the fall 2013 or winter 2014.
