What does it cost to study abroad?
Financing your time abroad is a practical consideration that you should address as early as possible. Spending a term or a year will cost you more than staying in Saint John, but you should not have to break the bank to incorporate a term abroad. Also, UNB Saint John and external partners will provide financial assistance to help with the cost: see more under travel awards.
Below you will see what expenses you can anticipate:
Expected Expenses
Tuition: You pay your regular full-time tuition to UNB while you are abroad, and no tuition fees to the host institution.
Living Cost: You will have to budget for living expenses abroad (rent, food). These costs will depend on your destination and duration of stay, and also on your usual way of living.
Passport/study permit: Also, you need to apply for a passport and in some cases pay an application fee for a study permit/residence permit in the country you will be visiting.
Travel Costs: You will also have to plan for the purchase of a plane ticket from Canada to the country of destination.
