McGill named interim director of Saint John College

Peter McGill, University of New Brunswick Alumnus and former Principal of the New Brunswick Community College Saint John, has been appointed the interim director of Saint John College.

"I am absolutely delighted to be at Saint John College," says McGill. "Working with the dedicated staff and enthusiastic students energizes me and makes each day a lot of fun."

A well-known figure in the educational and business community in Saint John, McGill spent the last 31 years as both a teacher and an administrator at the New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) as well as teaching undergraduate courses in the business faculty at UNBSJ.

As a member of the United Way of Saint John for 20 years and president of the board for 2006-2007, as well as a member of the Saint John Board of Trade for four years, McGill has also immersed himself within the local business and non-profit sectors.

He also was campaign chair at the United Way in 2005 and led a group of volunteers who raised $1.2 million for dependent agencies in the greater Saint John community. Between 2001 and 2003, he was president of the board of the South End Play Park.

McGill currently serves as a member of the premier's self-sufficiency roundtable and recently was appointed chair of the Rothesay Regional Joint Police Commission board.

He is expected to lead Saint John College until a new director is in place.
