Graduate programs

The Faculty of Science, Applied Science and Engineering offers a variety of graduate programs in Saint John.

Other programs are offered with UNB faculties in Fredericton and the UNB School of Graduate Studies.

Graduate programs

SASE's graduate program in biology is offered at both the master's and doctoral levels, with students supervised on the Saint John campus. Research areas include:

  • Environmental biology
  • Marine biology
  • Terrestrial and other

Biology program information


SASE boasts an active graduate program in computer science with master's and PhD-level programs offered in conjunction with the Faculty of Computer Science at UNB Fredericton. Computer science graduate students are able to work under the supervision of faculty within SASE's Department of Computer Science at UNB Saint John.

Computer science graduate students are provided with office space and access to our state-of-the-art computing labs which feature local high-performance clusters and are equipped with both Windows and Unix-based platforms.

Graduate programs at the master's and PhD levels are available from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics in conjunction with the Faculty of Science at UNB Fredericton.

Mathematics program information


Learn advanced research and statistical skills to succeed in your career in psychology. Our Master's is offered at the Saint John campus and can be completed in two years. Our PhD in Experimental Psychology is offered jointly with the Fredericton campus and can be completed in four years.

Psychology program information


UNB offers a Master of Nursing (MN) program for nurses who have already obtained a bachelor's degree. The program is offered full-time on the Fredericton campus only, but courses can be accessed from Saint John via teleconference on a part-time basis.

Nursing program information


1-year program: Use of basic research principles to assess and analyze real-world questions.

You will learn about:

  • quantitative and qualitative designs and statistical analyses
  • research ethics, with an emphasis on Canadian Psychological Association guidelines and the Canadian Tri-Council Policy Statement
  • conducting a program evaluation
  • applying your knowledge in a real-world setting

The program:

  • Courses in program evaluation, intermediate statistics, principles of science, psychological testing, advanced statistics and several electives
  • Complete a summer practicum with a partner organization

Admission requirements: We welcome applications from all disciplines. The minimum admission requirement will normally be an overall 3.7 GPA (or A-) in the last two years of full-time study. Incoming students must have completed three credit hours of statistics (or data analytics) with a minimum of a 3.3 GPA (or B+).
