Chemistry at the University of New Brunswick Saint John is part of the biological sciences department within the faculty of science, applied science and engineering.
Faculty offices, seminar and meeting rooms, and teaching and research laboratories, located on the third floor of Ganong Hall, feature scenic views of the St. John and Kennebecasis River system.
Both the research and teaching laboratories are well-equipped with instrumentation, including multinuclear FT 60MHz NMR, GC, FT IR and UV/Visible spectrophotometers.
The teaching laboratories emphasize the use of computer-interfaced data-collection. WHMIS training and green chemistry practices are mandatory.
The department of biological sciences prides itself on its small tutorial groups, which aid in lecture and laboratory work, as well as the opportunity for students to meet one-on-one with professors and instructors.
