Upper Year Biology Advising

Declare your major

BSc students may declare a biology major upon completion of their first year of studies. Checklists for the biology majors are updated annually. Majors may be declared by emailing Scott Thomas.  Majors include:

  • Biology
  • Marine Biology
  • Biology Psychology
  • Environmental Psychology

Second Year Advising

Students entering the second year of Biology will be advised in a group advising session which will take place during one of the Biol 1205 lectures in their first Winter term.

Please include your name, student number and your career/educational goals when contacting your advisor.

Due to asthma and allergies please refrain from wearing perfume, cologne, after shave and other scented products to advising.  

Important Notes for Upper Year students

Students are responsible for meeting their own graduation requirements.

Plan ahead - many upper level courses are offered in alternating years

Register for core courses at first available opportunity.  Students should have a plan and be able to register their next year of courses as soon as registration opens each year.

Students looking for the Honours thesis program (Biol 4090 or BIPS 4001/4002) must first be accepted by a supervising faculty supervisor.
