New students
New students are assigned rooms on a first come first served basis.
Most years the residence fills by the end of June and students applying after that date are put on the waiting list. Students should apply for residence at the same time they apply to study or very soon after.
NOTE: Applying to live in residence as a new student is a two step process. The first step involves applying for residence (once you find out if you are accepted to study at UNB Saint John) and filling out your meal plan choice. The second step involves sending in your $300 room deposit and residence contract. However, this is only done once you find out if you are admitted to residence by Residence Admissions.
Once you are accepted to study and have applied to Residence and received acknowledgement of your application from Residence Admissions, you should then send in your $300 residence deposit. This will be communicated to you via e-mail by Residence Admissions.
International students are advised to obtain their study visa’s prior to sending their deposit as it is non-refundable.
View the Moving In section for information on arriving to campus.
Application Summary
First Step:
Once you find out if you are admitted to UNB Saint John to study, you should then fill out a residence application form on line.
Second Step:
Once you find out if you are admitted to live in Residence by Residence Admissions, you need to fill out and hand in a $300 residence deposit. These forms can be found under the "Printable Forms" section
What is a Residence deposit?
A $300 residence deposit is required before a student can be accepted into residence.
Returning students submit their $300 deposit on their readmission form.
The entire deposit will be forfeited if a student cancels their room or fails to take the accommodation reserved for them. Once the deposit is received the Residence Admission Office can setup a room on behalf of the student. Room assignments do not take place until the deposit is paid.
Residence fees are added to a student’s account and a student pays for residence in the same manner as they pay for tuition. Fees are due at the beginning of September for the fall term and the beginning of January for the winter term.
