Internet Access

All residence rooms are equipped with dedicated high speed Internet which is included in your residence fees.  Usernames and passwords are not needed-simply plug your computer into the outlet with an Ethernet cable and your set!

Ethernet cables are not provided.  You must purchase your own.

Wireless internet is not provided in rooms, however there is wireless internet provided in the study lounges and the rest of the UNB Campus.

Intercom System

Residence buildings at security locked 24/7, therefore your room is set up with a three digit intercom number that will ring directly to your room phone when a guest is trying ot reach you.  Intercom lists are located at the entrances of each residence.

Food Services

The Baird Dining Hall is locate don the lower level of the Student Centre.  It is also accessible via the tunnel system.  The Dining Hall is home to : "Grill Works", for all things done on the grill; "Expresso's coffee", "Monague Deli" and "Home Zone".  There is also a Tim Hortons located in the bottom of Ward Chipman Library.

You will receive a temporary meal card upon your arrival.  This can be used at any food location on campus.  it works as a declining balance debit card.  For more information on how the meal card works, please see the Meal Plan section under Residence Admissions.

Housekeeping & Garbage

Housekeeping is responsible for keeping the common areas of Residence clean.  These include stairs, lounges, washrooms and hallways.  Residents are responsible for the cleaning of their own room and taking out the garbage.

Garbage is located on the Ground floor of the Mackay through the double doors and outback.  Garbage is located in the residence quad for the Dunn Residence. 

Please ask Residence staff if you cannot find it.

Recycling

Recycling is located on the ground floor of the Mackay for both Residences.  Only glass, tin and plastic are accepted-and it must be sorted!!

Laundry

Laundry rooms are located on the ground floors of each Residence.  Laundry is free to do.  Laundry rooms close at midnight every night.

Mail

Mail will be delivered to your mailbox each day.  Mailboxes in the Mackay residence are located in the games room.  You and your roommate each have your own.  Mailboxes in the Dunn residence are located across from Residence Admissions.  If you receive a parcel or a package that is too large to place in your mailbox, you will receive an e-mail stating to pick it up at Residence Admissions.

Repairs & Services

To ensure the residences are fully operational for all students, we ask that you please tell a member of the Residence staff or e-mail Residence Admission (res@unb.ca) or Residence Life (reslife@unb.ca) if you come across something that is broken or damaged in residence immediately.  The sooner we find out, the sooner it can be fixed!

Telephone Service

To access an outside line, you must first press 9 on the phone.  Local calling is free, but you must have a calling card if you wish to call long distance.  The Dunn Residence also has a  payphone locate din the hall of B2, if you wish to use it.  If you wish to call a friend within the residence system (either residence) all you must do is dial the last four digits of their room telephone number.  You are welcome to bring your own phone to use, but you must keep the phone that came with your room in a safe place to put back at the end of the year.  If you don't know your telephone number or can't find it, please ask an RA.

Television

All rooms come with cable hook-up.  You must provide your own TV and cable cord.  Cable is provided within you residence fees.  You will get about 60 channels.  If you would like to order Pay-Per-View, you must phone Rogers and provide them with your room number to do so.  A bill from them for this service will come to your room.  You must also provide your own cable cord.
