Transfer students
A student wishing to transfer within the University of New Brunswick, or from a recognized post-secondary education institution (university or college), will be considered for admission subject to our admission regulations.
Faculty of Arts
For Canadian students accepted for transfer from another recognized university or post-secondary education institution and seeking transfer credit from this institution:
- Students must provide, to the Registrar’s Office a current, official, original transcript from the university or post-secondary education institution transfer credit is being sought from. Students are required to provide to the Registrar’s Office official course outlines [course descriptions are insufficient for assessment purposes] from the university or post-secondary education institution transfer credit is being sought from.
- For students commencing in the September session of any year, this documentation is required before July 15th.
- For students commencing in the January session of any year, this documentation is required before November 15th.
- For students commencing in the May session of any year, this documentation is required before March 15th.
For International students accepted for transfer from another accredited university or post-secondary education institution and seeking transfer credit from this institution:
- Students must provide to the Registrar’s Office a current, official, original transcript (in official English translation, if necessary) from the accredited university or post-secondary education institution. The transcript must specify the year(s) the courses were taken in. As well, course name(s) on such transcripts, especially if translated to English, must match exactly the course name(s) as translated on the course outlines. [Note – simultaneous official translation of the transcript and course outlines is recommended to meet this requirement.]
- Students must also provide to the Registrar’s Office official (preferably on the education institution letterhead, in the form of an official institution calendar/prospectus/catalogue, or officially sealed/stamped by the institution) course outlines [course descriptions are insufficient for assessment purposes].
- These should set out in great detail:
- the course content
- textbook information for each course, or a list of resource material if no textbook was used
- a breakdown of how a student’s grades in the course were calculated, and
- the number of hours per week spent in class, as well as the number of weeks the course was held over in the term.
- These should set out in great detail:
- For students commencing in the September session of any year, this documentation is required before July 15th.

- For students commencing in the May session of any year, this documentation is required before March 15th.
Faculty of Business
For Canadian students accepted for transfer from another recognized university or post-secondary education institution and seeking transfer credit from this institution
- Students must provide to the Registrar’s Office a current, official, original transcript from the university or post-secondary education institution from which transfer credit is being sought.
- Students may also be requested to provide to the Registrar’s Office official course outlines [course descriptions are insufficient for assessment purposes] from the university or post-secondary education institution from which transfer credit is being sought.
For international students accepted for transfer from another accredited university or post-secondary education institution and seeking transfer credit from this institution:
- Students must provide to the Registrar’s Office a current, official, original transcript (in official English translation, if necessary) from the accredited university or post-secondary education institution. Faculty of Science, Applied Science & Engineering
For Canadian students accepted for transfer from another recognized university or post-secondary education institution and seeking transfer credit from this institution:
- Students must provide to the Registrar’s Office a current, official, original transcript from the university or post-secondary education institution from which transfer credit is being sought.
- Students may also be requested to provide to the Registrar’s Office official course outlines [course descriptions are insufficient for assessment purposes] from the university or post-secondary education institution from which transfer credit is being sought.
- For students commencing in the September session of any year, this documentation is required before July 15th.
- For students commencing in the January session of any year, this documentation is required before November 15th.
- For students commencing in the May session of any year, this documentation is required before March 15th.
For international students accepted for transfer from another accredited university or post-secondary education institution and seeking transfer credit from this institution:
Department of Engineering
Following the instructions provided, students must complete and submit to the Registrar’s Office the application for transfer credit Department of Engineering - UNB Saint John form included with his/her acceptance package materials (these accompany each accepted Engineering student’s UNB Saint John Letter of Acceptance):
- Students must accompany the above with a current, official, original transcript (in official English translation, if necessary) from the accredited university or post-secondary education institution
- Students must also accompany the above with official (preferably on the education institution letterhead, in the form of an official institution calendar/prospectus/catalogue, or officially sealed/stamped by the institution) course outlines [course descriptions are insufficient for assessment purposes].
Department of Computer Science and Applied Statistics at UNB Saint John (for the degrees of BSCCS or the BDA)
- Students must provide a Document-by-Document Assessment/Report by World Education Services [WES-Canada] (for further information, please review the information sheet – Computer Science at UNB Saint John - included with the acceptance package materials accompanying each BSCCS or BDA Letter of Acceptance from UNB Saint John)
- In addition to the WES-Canada Assessment/Report, students must provide to the Registrar’s Office a current, official, original transcript (in official English translation, if necessary) from the accredited university or post-secondary education institution
- Students must also provide the Registrar’s Office with official (preferably on the education institution letterhead, in the form of an official institution calendar/prospectus/catalogue, or officially sealed/stamped by the institution) course outlines [course descriptions are insufficient for assessment purposes].
All other Science or Applied Science
For international students accepted for transfer from another accredited university or post-secondary education institution and seeking transfer credit from this institution:
- Students must provide to the Registrar’s Office a current, official, original transcript (in official English translation, if necessary) from the accredited university or post-secondary education institution
- Students must also provide the Registrar’s Office with official (preferably on the education institution letterhead, in the form of an official institution calendar/prospectus/catalogue, or officially sealed/stamped by the institution) course outlines [course descriptions are insufficient for assessment purposes].
In all cases, it is in the student's best interest to provide as detailed and comprehensive a package of official information as possible in order for the faculty of study to consider as many transfer credits toward your UNB Saint John degree program, within the limits of transfer credit award established by UNB regulations.
