Guest seating


A limited number of seats are available at the ceremony. Parents and guests who wish to attend must have a ticket for admission. Tickets (two per graduating student) can be obtained:

  • May 30, 2013: from 3 - 4 pm in the Hazen Hall foyer, outside of the Hazen Hall Lecture Theatre

  • May 31, 2013: from 10 am - 2 pm, in the K.C. Irving Hall foyer, outside of K.C. Irving Hall Room 101


Tickets are free of charge. Please advise your guests that the gymnasium will be open for seating beginning at 12:30 pm on May 31. Seats are unassigned and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. No food - only water - is permitted in the gymnasium.

We are pleased to announce that once again, friends and family who do not have a ticket will be able to sit in overflowing seating in the Hazen Hall Lecture Theatre to view the ceremony via a live-feed.


The ceremony will also be streamed live for on-line viewing.  If you would like to obtain the link/access code to provide to family/friends that are not able to attend, please email the Office of the Registrar to request this information.

Additional tickets

If graduates are interested in receiving additional tickets for the ceremony, they should send an email request to Saint John Registrar by Friday, May 10, 2013.

All graduates submitting a request for additional guest tickets will be given consideration after this date and will receive an email notification of whether their requests were able to be accommodated no later than 3 pm on Wednesday, May 15, 2013. All tickets will be available for pick up as noted above.

Special needs seating arrangements

The Convocation Committee is pleased to assist guests in wheelchairs who require assistance in accessing the gymnasium. It is essential, however, that you inform us by contacting the Registrar’s Office via email no later than 4:30 pm on Wednesday, May 22, 2013. Your request must provide the name and student number of the graduating student, the name of the guest requiring assistance and the name of the person accompanying him/her.

Photos during the Ceremony

We ask you to encourage your guests not to block the aisles when taking photos during the ceremony. We strongly recommend that you wait until after the ceremony and use the stage for photographs. A photographer from Oak Tree Photography will be taking pictures of the graduates receiving their parchments.

Flowers

Bouquets of fresh flowers will be available for purchase at the entrance to the G. Forbes Elliot Athletics Centre prior to and during the graduation ceremonies. The prices range from $15 for a half dozen roses to $30 for the graduation bouquet with one dozen roses. Convocation Tea Reception

Graduates, parents and guests are invited to attend the Convocation Tea Reception in the Baird Dining Room in the Thomas J. Condon Student Centre immediately following the ceremony. Complimentary finger food, tea and coffee will be served.

Grad Class Breakfast

The Grad Class Breakfast will be held at the Lily Lake Pavillion on May 30th (the morning of the rehearsal) . Breakfast will start at 10:30 am. Guests are permitted to attend but grads will be given first priority.

Tickets for the Grad Class Breakfast are now available for purchase at the SRC office. They can also be bought online at the link below. Please be sure to purchase your tickets by May 27th.

This is a wonderful event to celebrate the graduating class of 2013. We hope to see you all there!

Alumni Honour Guard

Family members/friends of graduates who are UNB alumni and would  like to attend the ceremony are welcome to participate in  the Alumni Honour Guard at Spring Convocation. They process with other special guests and sit in a reserved area with faculty & staff.  Their regalia is reserved at no cost to them. Alumni can contact Mary Duffley, mary.duffley@unb.ca for further details and to reserve their regalia. Deadline is Friday, May 10.

Unable to attend the Ceremony?

If you are unable to attend the ceremony, your diploma will be available on the first business day immediately following the Convocation Ceremony through UNB Saint John's Registrar's Office, Oland Hall Room 141. Arrangements can be made to pick up your parchment, or have it mailed to you, by completing this form.

Diplomas designated as 'to be picked up' will only be held at the Registrar's Office for three weeks after the ceremony. They will then be mailed to the graduate's address appearing on the application to graduate form.
