Specialize or generalize - that is your choice

What is a concentration & when do I start one?

A concentration means that students choose four electives from one or two specific areas of studies.

BBA students are not required to take a concentration; however, they have the option of taking a concentration or a combination of concentrations, majors or minors, to expand their specific interests.

Conversely, to determine what their strongest interests are, students should first take a few courses in the different areas available before deciding to take a concentration in specialized areas of studies.

Concentrations are made up of four elective courses and students must obtain grades of C or better in each elective and an overall average of at least B on the four courses to earn a concentration.

Students may not count a course towards more than one concentration (i.e. BA 4223 or BA3129), nor may they count a course towards both a major and a concentration.

Regularly, all concentrations start in year two or three of the program. Students wishing to pursue a concentration must declare it by submitting a permission and request form to the Faculty of Business office (OH 245).
