Regena Farnsworth, PhD
Regena Farnsworth is an Associate Professor of Human Resources Management in the Faculty of Business at the University of New Brunswick, Saint John.
Dr.Farnsworth received her Ph.D. in Organizational Behaviour and Human Resources Management from Texas A&M University, her MBA from the University of Texas at Arlington, and her BA in Economics and Business Administration from Chapman University in Orange, California. Prior to joining UNBSJ in 1999, Dr. Farnsworth was a faculty member in the College of Business at the University of Texas.
During her teaching career, Dr. Farnsworth has taught numerous graduate and undergraduate courses including Strategic Human Resource Management, Leadership, Recruitment and Selection, Training and Development, Research Methodology, and Organizational Behaviour. She has been nominated for the Alan P. Stuart Teaching Award for Excellence in Teaching and served on the Vice President's Excellence in Teaching Committee.
While at the UNB, Dr. Farnsworth has been of service to the university community in many capacities. She is co-chair of the Joint UNB and AUNBT Committee on the Assessment of Teaching Competence, is a member of the UNBSJ Faculty Senate and has served as Vice President Saint John of the Association of University of New Brunswick Teachers. Dr. Farnsworth is also actively involved in service outside the University. She chairs the Leadership Team of the TIES 2 Work program, which is a workforce expansion initiative in Saint John. She is a member of the Leadership Roundtable for Vibrant Communities Saint John and is serving on the steering committee of a group that is developing programs to improve access to post secondary education in Saint John.
Dr. Farnsworth's research interests include human resources management issues in the hospitality and tourism industry and emotional intelligence in the workplace. Her research has been published in the Journal of Applied Psychology, International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, and Human Resources Management: Ideas and Trends in Personnel. She has presented her research at the Academy of Management, The Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and the Society of Human Resource Management as well as the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada. She has also been an invited speaker for a variety of organizations, including for the Human Resources Association of New Brunswick and the Institute of Public Administration of Canada.
