Kingston Cup

Each year the Seawolves host the Kingston Cup matches against Mount Allison University. The cup was donated by Doug Kingston. One day in the fall of 2000, Mr. Kingston arrived at the UNB Saint John Athletics Department with a beautifully hand-crafted basketball trophy in honour of his late wife Mary. The trophy was to be designated for a special basketball game or event.
The Athletics Director knew the games against Mount Allison were always competitive for both our men's and women's teams, and there had always been an intense but mutually respectful rivalry between the schools. So, it seemed to be the perfect fit for showcasing two New Brunswick university basketball teams and the first "Kingston Cup" games were played in February 2001.
This event is very dear to us as all funds gained from admissions during the event are matched by the UNB Saint John Students' Representative Council for 2 Athletic Bursaries to be presented at the Annual Athletics Awards Banquet.
This year the Kingston Cup matches will take place on Sunday, February 10 at the G. Forbes Elliot Athletics Centre and we hope to see you there:
2:00 pm - Women's Game: Seawolves vs. Mounties
2:40 pm - Half Time Games/Show
4:00 pm - Men's Game: Seawolves vs. Mounties
Pizza from our game day partner Boston Pizza will be for sale during both matches!
