W. C. Desmond Pacey Memorial LectureHosted by the faculty of arts on both UNB campuses, the W.C. Desmond Pacey Memorial Lecture is presented by leading figures in humanities and social sciences. It was established in 1981 to honour the late Desmond Pacey, a distinguished UNB professor and administrator who died in 1975.
The 2012-2013 Lecture will be held at UNB Saint John at 5:30 pm on Thursday, March 21, 2013 in Oland Hall 104. Juggling Work & Family: What Women Leaders Can Teach Us will be presented by Dr. Diane Halpern, the McElwee Family Professor of Psychology & Roberts Fellow, Claremont McKenna College, and past-president of the American Psychological Association.
W. Stewart MacNutt Memorial LectureThe annual W. Stewart MacNutt Memorial Lecture honours the late historian, professor and humanitarian for his many contributions to UNB and to the development of Atlantic Canadian history as a field of study.
Journalist and best-selling author, Linda McQuaig, will give the 2012-2013 W. Stewart MacNutt Memorial Lecture at UNB Saint John on November 29, 2012. Awarded the National Newspaper Award (1989) and the Atkinson Fellowship for Journalism in Public Policy (1991), McQuaig has authored nine books on politics and economics, challenging Canada's departure from universal social program issues toward the American means-based programs. All are welcome to Linda McQuaig's lecture, 'The Trouble with Billionaires: How Extreme Inequality Thwarts the Common Good'. It will take place at 5:30 pm in Hazen Hall room 239 at UNB Saint John.
