Dr. Louis Belanger

Dr. Louis Bélanger is a Professor of French at the University of New Brunswick in Saint John.

He received his PhD from the Université de Sherbrooke, his MA from the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, and his BA from the Université de Montréal.  Before joining the Faculty of Arts' Department of Humanities and Languages in 1990, Dr. Bélanger's academic career saw was with Laurentian University and York University. 

Louis Bélanger specializes in Québec Drama and Franco-Ontarian literature.  Along with producing two books, he has published 25 articles and over 30 book reviews in national and international journals on contemporary authors such as Michel Tremblay, Patrice Desbiens, Jean Marc Dalpé, Daniel Poliquin, Stefan Psenak, Éric Charlebois.  His research contributes to the institution of minority literatures as sources of aesthetic and thematic renewal in the literary discourse.

Dr. Bélanger served as editor in journals such as Liaison, LittéRéalité and La Revue du Nouvel-Ontario.  He directed the collection "Vertiges", publisher of Franco-Ontarian novels, at Les Éditions l'Interligne in Ottawa.
