Services Available at Both Campuses For Retired UNB Employees
UNB Supplementary Health Insurance Plan
UNB Group Health Insurance coverage may be maintained upon retirement, although retirees must pay the full premium.
Prescription Drugs
Prescription drug coverage terminates upon regular retirement (age 65). Retirees can maintain drug coverage for spouses until month end of the spouses 65th birthday. Prescription drug coverage after age 65 can be purchased under the Province of New Brunswick Seniors Drug Program which is administered by Medavie Blue Cross (1-800-565-0065). Applications can be obtained from the local Medavie Blue Cross office. You must apply within 60 days following your 65th birthday.
Dental Plan
UNB's dental plan ceases upon regular retirement. Retirees have the option of joining the Province of New Brunswick dental plan for retirees but you must make application within six months of the date of retirement. Application forms are available at UNB's HR Department.
Out of Province Travel
Out of province / country travel ( Health ) - coverage is available through UNB's Program of Travel Insurance which is underwritten by AXA Assurances Inc. Note that benefits may be affected if a pre-existing condition exists and is not stabilized prior to travel. Please contact Human Resources (453-4648) for more information.
Life Insurance
Compulsory life insurance terminates upon retirement. There is the option to purchase the employee's and/or spouse's coverage to an individual policy within 31 days of retirement without having to provide evidence of good health. Premium rates and coverage will be different from your current plan.

In recognition of your contribution to the University of New Brunswick, UNB continues a number of electronic services for your use. To ensure these services remain active as you change from an employee to retiree, contact Human Resources (453-4648) shortly prior to your retirement to verify that a retirement date has been coded for you.
UNB Email ID and Mailbox
This service continues unchanged. To redirect your email to another email address or access other email services go to the Email/Calendar tab in MY UNB e-Services.
Receipt of eDaily/eNews Electronic Newsletter
This service continues unchanged.
Library Service
This service continues unchanged
Online People Search
By default UNB retirees' names do not appear in the online people search. If you wish to have your name to appear, place your request with the department from which you retired.
Additional Authenticated Access
It should be noted that some access granted before retirement may no longer be present. After retirement, additional authenticated accesses may be provided upon authorization of the appropriate Faculty Dean or Administrative Unit Director.
PIN Expiry
In order to promote a safe computing environment, UNB requires periodic changes to a person's PIN. You will be notified via email several times
in the month prior to your PIN's expiry date. Ton maintain access to authenticated services such as email, you must change your PIN prior
to expiry.
