Stream Restoration Hydraulics Manual

streamrest
bobnewburyStream Restoration Hydraulics, by Dr. Bob Newbury, CRI Emeritus Fellow, is a collection of successful project designs illustrating the application of simple open channel hydraulic solutions that restore fish habitats and natural characteristics to channelized and altered streams and rivers.

Selected aspects of fluvial geomorphology, stream habitats and open channel hydraulics provide the background for designing  pools, riffles, meanders, channel alignments and fish passage works. Appendices include long-hand hydraulic calculations, programmed solutions and other teaching Programs, construction videos and sample HEC, CHUTE and FishXing project files are included on an attached CD.

The background materials and project designs have been widely used in stream project assessment and restoration design workshops for government agencies, environmental consulting firms and university courses in North America, Europe and Australia. The principal contribution to the large field of stream restoration literature is the illustration of how the hydraulic conditions were designed in successfully built projects. Casebook Outline.
