Analysis of Environmental Effects Monitoring Data

Course Description:

This online course covers all aspects of analyzing and interpreting Environmental Effects Monitoring (EEM) data collected as part of Canada’s National EEM program. The course provides an introduction to statistics and the background necessary to analyze fish population survey data and benthic community survey data as collected in Canada’s EEM program. The course covers all aspects of analyzing EEM data including: 

 

  • descriptive statistics
  • hypothesis testing
  • data QA/QC & plotting data
  • identifying and dealing with unusual observations
  • analysis of variance & analysis of covariance                            

 

 

  • non-parametric tests
  • power analyses
  • statistics for non-lethal sampling data
  • statistics for benthic invertebrate community data

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Access is provided to a statistical software package (Minitab).  The course is comprised of eight online learning modules with tutorials and example data sets to practice statistical analyses with the software package.
