Brook charr (Salvelinus fontinalis) seasonal activity patterns and habitat use in a small lake in the Indian Bay Watershed, Newfoundland
Brook charr lake-wide movement will be monitored using a Vemco VR2W acoustic receiver grid to track brook charr internally tagged with Vemco acoustic tags which measure water temperature and fish depth.  This system will allow for three dimensional positioning of fish to within 2-5m every 20 minutes for one year.  Shallow water use of brook charr will be monitored using an array of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) antennas placed at different depths in the littoral zone to track brook charr tagged with Passive Integrated Transponder (PIT) tags.  Changes in activity patterns will be compared with fluctuations in environmental factors including, water temperature, light transmittance, season, diel period, and meteorological events.
