Postdoctoral Fellowship in Aquatic Sciences
Environment Canada - Canadian Centre for Inland Waters, Canada
We seek an aquatic scientist at the post-doctoral level to fill a position as a researcher and project manager for a large interdisciplinary research initiative studying the linkages between lands management practices and aquatic ecosystem conditions. The successful candidate will be responsible for the coordination of ongoing researcher projects studying the relationship between land management practices and stream ecology, biogeochemistry and hydrology in the subwatersheds of the Red River Basin in Southern Manitoba Canada. The postdoctoral fellow will also be expected to design and conduct a novel research project that addresses research questions complementary to the larger initiative. The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in aquatic ecology, biogeochemistry or hydrology, possess strong leadership, communication and project management skills and have a demonstrated record of producing peer-reviewed publications.
The appointment is for 2 years, at an annual salary of $47,234 with opportunities for contract renewal for an additional 2 years. The position will be based in Burlington, Ontario at the Canadian Centre for Inland Waters. Preference will be given to candidates available to start by January 2013. Candidates from any country may apply, but must have received their PhD within the past 5 years to be eligible. Expertise and ability will be assessed primarily via the quality of previous scientific output, the demonstrated ability of the candidate to work within a team framework, and letters of reference.
To apply, please email a cover letter, brief summary of research interests, CV, and contact information for 2 references to Dr. Patricia Chambers at patricia.chambers@ec.gc.ca. Review of applications will begin immediately, but submissions will be accepted until the position is filled.
